Geoffrey Dennis



 

Rabbi Geoffrey Dennis is adjuct instructor of Rabbinics in the Jewish Studies Program at the University of North Texas. He is also rabbi of Congregation Kol Ami in Flower Mound, Texas. His areas of expertise include Midrash, Jewish esotericism, mythology, interfaith relations, medicine and healing in the Jewish tradition. His articles have appeared in Parabola: the Magazine of Myth and Tradition, Journal of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care, The Journal of the Anthropology of Consciousness, and Healing Ministries. His most recent article, "The Bride of God: Jewish Erotic Theology," will be published in 2008 in the anthology, Jews and Sex, edited by Nathan Abrams.

His first book, The Encyclopedia of Jewish Myth, Magic, and Mysticism, has been honored as a runner up for the 2007 National Jewish Books Award.

Prior to teaching at UNT beginning in 1999, he taught for the University of Indianapolis and for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPIU).
